Feeding with Love: A Joyful Summer Session in the Zinnias

It’s incredibly important to me that all parents feel empowered to feed their babies in the way that works best for them. Every family’s journey is unique, shaped by a multitude of personal choices and circumstances. Whether bottle-fed, breastfed, formula-fed, or a blend of it all—what matters most is that your baby is loved, nourished, and cared for.

This session with baby Victoria and her family was a reminder of just that. We met in the heart of summer at my little farm in Central Wisconsin, surrounded by zinnias blooming in our slightly wild but well-loved vegetable garden. Grown from seed, these flowers added a vibrant burst of color and life—an ideal backdrop for a session full of warmth and connection.

It was such a joy to welcome Victoria back in front of my lens. Just a few months ago, I photographed her as a tiny newborn, and now she’s growing into a curious, expressive little soul. Watching her parents interact with her—sharing smiles, gentle touches, and laughter—was heart-melting. Their bond radiated through every moment.

Like all babies do, Victoria got hungry. And then, she was fed.

There’s something profoundly beautiful about the simplicity of that. As she nursed, she twirled her mama’s hair in her tiny fingers—a small gesture that sparked a wave of nostalgia from my own memories as a mother. These tender feeding moments are about so much more than nutrition; they’re about closeness, comfort, and love.

Babies grow faster than we can ever really prepare for. These fleeting moments—when their whole world is your embrace—are worth remembering.
